We are a little over three weeks before we arrive at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for our magical Christmas celebration and I thought I’d share some of my trip planning experiences with you all.
It might make it easier for you when you start looking and planning. I still think that you are far better off working through a travel agent who has made every mistake possible for themselves before being trained by their agency and Disney.
If you’ve read my last entry, you know that we haven’t had much time to plan this trip as we decided to do it just recently but here’s where we stand.
Our reservation was made with Disney for our stay at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort on Thanksgiving day.
I couldn’t arrange for our Annual Passes until the next day. I called Disney Vacation Club Member service the following day and purchased our passes and linked them to my, “My Disney Experience” so fast passes could be secured. I was surprised to be able to get fast passes for all of our favorites at Walt Disney World without problem with only 30 days to go.
We are driving to Florida and arrive at Coronado Springs in the early afternoon on December 24th and after check-in we plan to visit Animal Kingdom, activate our Annual Passes and enjoy the park with the following fast passes…. Festival of the Lion King, Expedition Everest and the night time Kilimanjaro Safari. We are excited to do the safari after dark for the first time ever!
We are planning to be at the Magic Kingdom early on Christmas morning and we have fast passes for the following attractions…… Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. We could have gotten The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for early evening but we wanted to plan for our Christmas dinner and we do not like the options at Magic Kingdom for that.
Once again….. I was surprised to get a dining reservation on Christmas day with character dining no less! We have reservations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Minnie’s seasonal Dine, dinner at Hollywood and Vine!!! Not only is this restaurant new for us….. but we get to have dinner with our favorite characters on Christmas Day!
Here’s what Disney says about it………
Minnie’s Seasonal Dining
Minnie invites you to meet all of her friends at delightful dinner parties throughout the year!
Join Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy for dinner celebrations centered on seasonal “deliciousness.” The mouse-with-the-mostest hosts sensational nights that mix unique music and décor with menu items commemorating winter holidays, the verdant bounty of spring, sizzling summer fun or Halloween chills ‘n’ thrills!
Guests can pose for pics with Disney Characters, meet others as they stop by and participate in table activities geared to the theme. Plus, the party gifts make great souvenirs! Don’t miss your chance to be part of the following:
- November 7, 2016 – January 6, 2017
Minnie’s Holiday Dine
Deck the halls at a dazzling dinner party filled with holiday cheer and the joy of the season!
On Monday, December 26th we decided to start our day at Epcot with fast passes for Soarin’, Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I’m not a fan of the fast pass choices available at Epcot but they will do. The only one I really wanted was Soarin’ to see the updated version. We spend most of our time in World Showcase and we have a dining reservation for Via Naploi Risorante e Pizzaria for a late lunch. I know I was disgusted at the price of our first and last meal there but we will try it again and see if we can make it a little more affordable.
On Tuesday, December 27th we are going to start at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with fast passes for Star Tours, Toy Story Mania, and don’t laugh, Sig….. The Twilight Zones Tower of Terror. We didn’t make any dining reservations for this day. I bet we end up walking to the Boardwalk and eating dinner at the ESPN Club. It’s one of our favorite places to eat while at Disney World!
On Wednesday, December 28th we are going to the Magic Kingdom but our fast passes do not start until 3:00pm with Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Small World and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train before 8:00pm.
That’s all the reservations we have at this time.We still have the 29th and 30th in the parks before we start our drive back north. We plan on meeting with a couple of real estate agents while there and looking towards buying a property for our retirement days coming up soon.
We haven’t decided which day to leave but our Disney room reservation has us checking out on the 31st so if we decide to stay one more night, we will have to stay offsite.
So there you have it…… our plans are coming together just fine.I’ve ordered Magic Bands and done the online check in. I have requested ground floor and closest to transportation so we will see if our requests are granted. If you didn’t already know, requests are just requests….. not guaranteed to be granted.
My next entry should be during our trip.
