This morning was the first time we’ve set an alarm clock this trip. We do that every morning we plan to go to Animal Kingdom. But it still doesn’t make it any easier. We crawled out of bed when the alarm sounded at 7:00am. I was the first to get up so I done the honors of pouring the coffee.
We were both showered, dressed, and out the door by9:00am and heading for the bus stop. Our Animal Kingdom bus arrived within one minute of us getting to the stop and we were on our way.
First up was the Kilimanjaro Safaris and the animals were very active. We had fun with a young couple from Boston that hadn’t been to Walt Disney World since 1998, I think they said. He kept saying, “wow”, about every minute.
They also walked the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail with us and said their goodbyes as they headed to Expedition Everest to challenge the Yeti.
Patti and I walked towards the Festival of the Lion King to use our fast pass. They were already letting people into the fast pass area and we took advantage of looking at the beautiful flowers along the way. This show is one of our favorites and today’s show was spectacular!
After the show ended we walked to Flametree BBQ for our lunch. I had the half chicken with beans and cornbread, Patti had the Turkey Sandwich. We added a side order of Onion Rings also. If you like onion rings you have to get a side order here.
We had fast passes for Finding Nemo-the Musical and once again enjoyed the show. After it was over we decided to head back to our villa for an adult beverage on our balcony. We relaxed for about an hour and a half before walking to Epcot. We had a dinner reservation at Via Napoli and we’ve never eaten there before.
We checked in and we were seated in less than two minutes but the table was not in a good place. It was so noisy in there we couldn’t understand the waitress. We noticed an empty table for two outside along the building and asked if we could be moved to it and the manager said of course. It was much quieter outside.
Patti started with Pasta Fagioli and I’m not much for appetizers so I just waited for our pizza to arrive. We ordered a large cheese pizzaand added onions, red peppers, pepperoni and mushrooms to it. We added a pitcher of BudLite to it and the pizza was incredibly good.
With dinner complete we decided to walk to Mouse Gears to buy some souvenirs for some special people. On our way over there we walked by Mexico and thought about an experience we had riding the Gran Fiesta Tour in October, 2014. We just had to ride it again. We proclaimed, “this ride is for Alex”.
As we walked towards Mouse Gears, we couldn’t help but stop for a photo.
We finally quit kissing and made it to Mouse Gears and found some cute little things we were looking for and started our walk back. We were almost to the U.K. when Illuminations was about to start so we paused to watch.
Disney has not done a good job with this show. They have cut back way to much and to us, it is not worth watching. It used to be our favorite night time show, but not any more. We walked away at around the half way point, disappointed. First time travelers will probably love it though.
Just before we arrived at the Boardwalk, the Star Wars Fireworks display started at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and we stopped to watch. Even from that distance, they were beautiful!
As we finished our night, we were happy and satisfied with the wonderful day at Walt Disney World.
As I finish writing this in the morning, today we celebrate our anniversary on the day of, with a dinner at Mama Melrose’s with dear friends, Sig and Lisa Berg and family. And…… we get to watch Fantasmic together tonight!
