It seemed strange to be leaving so late in the day when flying to Walt Disney World. We always take an early flight usually leaving by 8:00 am so we can be at our resort by around 12:00 noon. But Southwest has changed their schedule and this was the only nonstop flight on this day.
When we arrived in Orlando, I had a text message from the Garden Grocer saying our grocery order was waiting for us at our resort, Saratoga Springs. We found our tagged bags and checked in with Magical Express and we were soon on our way.
We also received a text from Disney that our room was ready and because we had completed the online check in we could go right to our room in the Grandstand Section. All my room requests were met and we were in a second floor, fairway view villa. As the bus pulled into Saratoga Springs, we were filled with joy.
After we checked out the room, I called bell service and asked them to deliver our grocery order. We quickly put some things way, changed into some park clothes and headed to the bus stop. We would soon be in the Magic Kingdom.
We had to stop at the “will call” window to activate our Annual Pass vouchers and it slowed us up a little. I had to change our first Fast Pass from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train but we got the Jungle Cruise instead. We loved seeing it as the “Jingle Cruise”.
As we walked under the train station that feeling started to come over me….. and it increased when we walked around the corner to see Cinderella’s Castle again. I got so excited! I was ten years old again and I felt so good as we made our way up Main Street! I love the sounds…. the smells….. and the vibe of Main Street! But, we were hungry! What to have??? A Mickey Bar was the first thing I thought of and everyone that knows me, knows I’m going to eat a few of them while here. But we didnt have one on day one!
It was time for our Fast Pass with Buzz. Patti actually beat me pretty bad this time but we both laughed so hard when we came off that people were looking at us strangely. We didn’t care…. we will never see any of them ever again.
We walked towards our next Fast Pass, Pirates of the Caribbean and just enjoyed watching all the kids as we walked. Everyone was in a good mood except one little girl who was pouting. We stopped to walk on Mickeys Philharmagic.
Our meeting with Captain Jack Sparrow was a lot of fun. But we didn’t really notice a lot of changes to the attraction. But there was one major problem. We were asked by a young lady who was placing people in the boats if we’d mind being in front. She said we might get a little wet. I let Patti make the call and after some thought, she said it would be okay. We’ve ridden this about 50 times and you really don’t get too wet.
Boy was she wrong! We got soaked! Kind of like almost Kali River Rapids soaked! Not quite as much, but close. If you are asked if you mind the front seat…… you’ve been warned.
We enjoyed riding the Jingle Cruise even though we know most of the script the skipper was using. But it was fun watching the faces of the people who were probably riding for the first time.
After, we decided to head to Disney Springs. But we did it in an unconventional way.
When we got to the bus stops, the bus for Saratoga Springs had pulled up just before we got there and very few people were getting on. We walked back to our room and left our jackets and walked back to the bus stop and boarded our bus to Disney Springs
When we arrived we went directly to Ghirardelli Ice Cream Shop for a Hot Fudge Sundae and it was as good as I remembered. The gentleman that took our order was an exceptional cast member. He noticed my DVC and AP sliders on my Magic Band and offered a discount. He then asked if I were military and I said no, but I used to be. I showed him my Veteran Card and he gave us a 20% discount.
If you see Bob, tell him he’s a great cast member!
We walked around people watching but most of the stores were closing.
We were tired so we decided to walk back to Saratoga Springs and call it a day. The adult beverage tasted exceptionally good as we wound down and got ready for bed.
Tomorrow is our Epcot day with lunch at the Garden Grill and the Candlelight Processional as our major plan.
See you tomorrow
