We are rapidly approaching our trip to see the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights for the second……… and last time.
Walt Disney World announced the end of showing the Osborne Lights after this year to make room for the new Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land, coming to Disney Hollywood Studios. Construction is set to begin after the Christmas holidays.
We didn’t plan on returning to Walt Disney World again this year but we need to see the lights one more time.
I hope you’ve read part 1 of our pre-trip report but if not, here’s a link to it.
I’ve also posted about our planning for this trip. Here’s a link to that as well.
We will be checking into Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort next to Disney Springs and we will spend five nights in a studio villa in the Grandstand Section. We plan to do six days in the parks. Here’s a look at our second half of our planning schedule.
I will be posting nightly trip reports during our trip also. I don’t know how detailed they will be….. remember…. we are on vacation. I usually have a tendency to do my writings during the next morning as my wife is getting ready for the parks so if you enjoy following along, look for the first one on Tuesday morning, December 15th.
Thursday, December 17th.
Our day will start out with breakfast in our room, just like every day. I’ve got to have my Cheerios, my banana and some coffee before we head to the parks.
This day will find us walking around Disney’s Hollywood Studios and enjoying the new changes there as well as clinging to some of our favorite old attractions.
We love the Great Movie Ride, One Mans Dream, Rockin’ Roller Coaster with Aerosmith. And I’m sure we will watch the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. We haven’t seen Beauty and The Beast Live in a couple of trips so that will also be on our list.
We are excited to visit the Star Wars Launch Bay. I will need to get lots of pictures of this.
Our lunch today will probably be at the Back Lot Express or maybe even Fairfax Fare. We will just eat when we are ready to eat. We will eat a light lunch as we have a plan for dinner and little later.
We have always made it a point to eat once at the ESPN Club over on the Boardwalk and it is an easy walk from DHS so we will probably do that in the late afternoon or early evening.
After the ESPN Club meal we will walk it off by walking back to DHS to see the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
DHS closes at 8:00pm tonight but Epcot has Evening Extra Magic Hours until 11:30pm so I see us headed there after we tire of DHS.
Here’s another tip for you. While walking the Boardwalk, look for this Margarita Stand pictured below if you are looking for what I think is the best margarita on property. We always enjoy a margarita from here while sitting on the Boardwalk people watching!
At the ESPN Club, I love to start off with the Buffalo Chicken Wings and a cold beer. Patti eats the celery and we both usually order the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. We usually are staying at the Boardwalk Villas and take half of our Cheesesteak’s back to our room. I bet this trip we will just split one and save some money.
While at Epcot we always stop by and see our friends (pictured below) in the UK!
The British Revolution are a fantastic group of great guys who have become friends over the years. We watch them perform several times during our trips. I’d love to sit down on the drums with them some time!
Friday, December 18th
Friday is another Park Hopper day for us. We both have annual passes but if we didn’t, we would have to have Park Hopper Tickets.
Here’s another tip……. I always advise my clients to have them. Some do… and some learn the hard way. With Park Hopper tickets, if you see the park your in filling up and becoming crowded, you can leave and go to a different park.
We begin with Animal Kingdom this morning and I’ve arranged our Fast Passes to be completed by 1:00pm today. We have a Morning Extra Magic Hours at AK today so the park should be pretty active. It opens at 8:00am for guests staying in a Disney Resort, We will try to be as early as possible for this day.
Here’s another tip for you. As we walk through Harambe, we like to stop by the Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. It’s just past the Tusker House on the left and it’s easily missed. They have great Cinnamon Rolls there and good coffee. We will skip the Cheerios this morning for the Cinnamon Rolls.
I always try to plan our mornings first stop on the Safari followed by the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail to see the Silver Back Gorillas. I can stand for hours watching them if they are active.
After we do everything we need to do at AK, we are planning to “park hop” to DHS to see the new Star Wars Firework display, which is debuting on this day. We really got lucky with our timing for this trip! DHS is open until 11:00pm so I see a late night happening here.
Saturday, December 19th
Saturday is our check out day. *insert sad smiley here*
After we check out, we will take our luggage to the airlines desk and check them through to Rochester. We will leave our carry on bags with bell service and head back to the Magic Kingdom.
Our flight home does not leave until 6:00pm so our Magical Express pickup won’t be until 3:00pm. This gives us plenty of time to enjoy our last day at the Magic Kingdom. We have some Fast Passes to use up first.
We can stay in the park until around 2:00pm and do some shopping like we usually do….. just some last minute little things that we really don’t need.
I hope you follow along with our trip on a daily basis and I hope you are paying attention to some of the tips and suggestions I tried to bring up along the way.
I enjoy sharing and love to help plan trips for my clients! There is nothing better than to see pictures of my clients family with big Disney smiles on their face. It makes it very worth while!
