Planning for Walt Disney World. Leave your worries at home!

When I first started working as a travel agent,  I was surprised to hear people were worried that their Walt Disney World vacation would be just a big waste of time and money.

I’ve had people say that they only wanted to visit the Magic Kingdom and then do Sea World,  Lego Land,  or Universal.  While they are all fun places and deserve to be experienced,  they don’t hold a candle to Disney!

When I plan trips for a family of kids and adults,  I try to put a lot of emphasis on fun experiences for the whole family.  It is also important to plan on some “down time” because a Disney vacation can be a lot of exercise. Be sure to take some time for relaxation around the pool or even a round of golf! Yes….. Disney World has great golf courses! I have some couples that actually take time out of the parks for golfing at Disney World. They have “PGA Quality” courses that are challenging yet fun to play!

They even have some of the best mini golf courses.

Winter-Summerland is a kids favorite. And it’s right next door to Blizzard Beach.

You see……. there is more to a Disney vacation than princesses, pirates and the mouse! In fact, I think there’s as much to do for adults and teens as there is for the little ones.

At the Magic Kingdom,  adults will enjoy the attractions like Mickeys Philharmagic, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain and many more. The parades are fun for the whole family and every one should see Wishes at least once in their lifetime. There is so much to see and do  that my wife and I spend at least two days there a each and every trip! It is our first day park….. as soon as we get checked into our resort, we head to MK!

The view of the Castle makes this grown man feel like a kid again!

Epcot just can’t be seen in less than two days if everyone in the family has to see and do everything. Epcot is divided into two separate worlds, Future world and World Showcase. Each has its “must do” attractions.

Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth is called the big golf ball by people that don’t know what it is. But to me, it is as much educational as it is an attraction.

The first thing we do every trip at Epcot is take a ride on Spaceship Earth. The whole family will enjoy it! Then there is Mission Space,  Test Track, and Soarin’ that the whole family will enjoy. These are all in Future World. For the little’s…. there is Nemo and Turtle Talk with Crush. I even enjoy going into these just to watch the kids faces and listen to what they have to say to Crush.

In World Showcase, there are 11 different countries to visit,  each with there own must do’s. Take time to explore each country….. have a bite to eat or a drink native to the country you are in. You can’t go wrong!  In Japan one time, my wife loved picking out a pearl and having a necklace made with it!  It’s a keepsake she will enjoy for years.

Animal Kingdom has been thought of as a half day park…. .and I’m shaking my head thinking about it. It has to be coming from people that love thrill rides. If so…… maybe you should visit Universal instead. The closest thing to a thrill ride here is Expedition Everest. expedition-everest 1 expedition-everest 2

One morning during our stop at AK, we love to have an early breakfast reservation for the Tusker House. We get great food and see our favorite characters all at the same time!

The Tusker House has a great breakfast buffet and it’s a great way to start your Animal Kingdom Park day. Plus… you will see your favorite characters for an up close and personal experience. Make sure to take lots of photos!

Animal Kingdom is full of things that keep us there for most of the whole day and return as least once or twice during our week long vacation. Our plan usually involves getting into AK early in the morning and riding through Kilimanjaro Safaris first thing. The animals are a little more active during the cooler temperature of morning.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be the hardest to plan for right now with all the changes that have been announced by Disney. We usually visit DHS for several hours on two to three days of our trip because we love to park hop. I’ve already written about our typical day at DHS……. find it here if you haven’t read it already.

There are so many things to see and do at Walt Disney World why would you even want to take time away from there for any other stops? When you book your magical Disney vacation you can leave your worries at home.

If you are flying into Orlando, you will board the Magical Express Bus which takes you to your resort. All transportation to and from the parks is also provided and if you do decide to play a round of golf…… Disney will even pay for your taxi service to and from the golf course!

When you are done vacationing at Walt Disney World, you will once again board the Magical Express Bus for your return trip to the airport. I’ve seen many people with sad expressions getting on board for this ride.
